Cyber Law Overview

Information Technology Law, Computer Law  or Internet Law is also known as Cyber Law and deals with all issues relating to internet. Since there is no uniform international internet law therefore generally the internet law issues are a subject of conflict of laws and also depends on the national laws or private international laws.  One big example can be given as many website contents are legal in one country and illegal in another jurisdiction. Therefore, multi jurisdictions can also be involved for internet law however for the user physical jurisdiction may also involve. Generally it can involve three jurisdictions

  • User’s resident state laws
  • Law of the land where the host server is located
  • Country where the other user involve resides

For example if a user from Australia enters into a transaction with a New Zealand resident on a website the host of which is located in USA, all three countries’ law will be applicable.
